Westview Baptist Church, Where Friends Become Family

Vacation Bible School in early June was exciting and fun! Five days of Bible-learning experiences, crafts, games, treats, and wonderful songs. And we have lots of pictures to prove it!

Each night we took pictures of one Crew in different poses....click on "One" to see Spotlight One (God's Word is true) from the first night! And here's Spotlight Two (God's Word is comforting) from Monday night! Spotlight Three (God's Word is surprising) from Tuesday! Spotlight Four (God's Word is life-changing) takes care of Wednesday...and finally Spotlight Five (God's Word is for everyone) for Thursday night. These are Smilebox shows and you can print any of the slides you like.

May 15th we hosted Cruise-In 2010, our first classic car event! Had some great vehicles show up to enjoy the sunny weather, good food, and fellowship.

Westview ordained two new deacons on April 11th. On the left is Mark Ogle with his wife, Robbie, and on the right is Tim Higginbotham and his wife, Kelly (Pastor Jimmie Roberts behind the pulpit). Congratulations to these men and their commitment to the Lord and our church. More pictures

The Classic 4 Quartet from Ashland City, Tennessee, gave a wonderful, uplifting performance at Westview on March 7th. These guys have been singing gospel forever....and they are so good! We hope to have them back real soon. Closeups and more pictures

Music, games, good food, and much laughter describes our Valentine Party on February 14th. Relay games involved passing balloons by various routes (up, under, no hands???) and JR popping balloons in the background! Hoorahs to the folks who participated in the karaoke and many thanks to all who worked so hard to make it such an enjoyable evening. More pictures

Renewed" was in concert at Westview on Jan 10th. Lots of good music, laughter, and praising the Lord, followed by a time of fellowship. This concert was a special event in honor of Christine Hughes and Annie Mae Ivey celebrating their birthdays. Click for pictures

The Christmas parades were cold and festive. Our float, a little white church complete with tin roof and top cross and lit by lanterns, took 3rd place in Sylacauga and 1st place at Childersburg! Many thanks to the folks who worked so hard to make that happen. Many more pictures

We had over 700 children and adults visit Westview for our annual Trunk of Treats on Halloween. Westview folks always enjoy hosting this safe "treat" environment for the community, as you can see in these pictures.

First stop
for candy!

Darius James, age 5, was the winner of the $100 Walmart Gift Card at our Trunk of Treats. His guess was the closest to the actual number of candy corn in a jar. Accepting the card on his behalf from Pastor Jimmie Roberts is his grandmother, Alesia James, who brings Darius and his sister to Westview every year on Halloween. Congratulations, Darius!

Pastor Appreciation Sunday was October 18th! Along with our thanks, Jimmie and Carol received a special scrapbook and a slideshow of special old and recent photos. The gospel group To The End sang in the 11:00am worship service and everyone ate more than they should at the fellowship meal! More pictures

Laughter was the name of the day at our Hillbilly Games on September 27th. Apple bobbing, bucket and sack races, pig chases, and bed races topped the list of events. Prizes for all and Mike's "concoction" cooked over an open fire (plus hot dogs) finished up the fun event. Everybody said, "Let's do it again next year!" Many more pictures
